Andrea has a master’s degree in Pharmacy and has been a registered community pharmacist for 10 years. As a pharmacist in charge she has had experience in the training of colleagues, evidence-based medication management, and complete supervision of the pharmacy team to ensure a productive daily workflow. Having lived rurally for several years during her pharmacy practice, she has witnessed the vulnerability that can result when appropriate support measures are not in place, especially for the elderly. This learning led to her developing a passion for helping those with age related health needs and for ‘consumer directed care’ enabling clients to make their own choices for their individual wellbeing. Andrea is Meg and Dave’s daughter, and has recently transitioned into the Home Care Assistance role. Alongside her parents, Andrea is thoroughly enjoying the new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow, as she supports the delivery of our quality in-home care alongside her husband Geoff and her family.
Geoff has a PhD in Science and has spent 20 years as a research biochemist working on a range of projects from cancer-causing viruses, antibiotic development, and industrial biofuels. “Put simply, I have always been drawn to finding better ways to do things”. This is what drew Geoff to working with Home Care Assistance North Coast; a company that distinguishes itself by our strong reputation for consumer-directed in-home care. Geoff enjoys spending time travelling with wife Andrea and their two children and is looking forward to exploring all the towns and coastline between Forster and Tweed Heads as a part of his role in the team.
Meg has worked in senior regional management roles in the health care and education industries, in both public and private sectors. She has served as a Board Director for Integrated Living Australia, and has led national and state committees, seeking to continuously improve quality assurance standards in service delivery and staff competence.
Meg has been a member of the national evaluator panel for the Australian Business Excellence Awards. Also a Fine Arts degree graduate, Meg enjoys the chance to bring artistic practices (especially in drawing and painting) to all facets of work and life. Within her immediate family, Meg has supported parents and one of her children, during acute and terminal illnesses. She values the emotional learnings gained through those life experiences. As joint owner of Home Care Assistance North Coast, Meg brings passion, compassion and a proven commitment to ageing as an important and privileged phase of living.
David Kirkby has an extensive background in vocational education and training as an educator, and as a senior manager – coordinating large teams to meet the complex and varied needs of individuals and the wider community in NSW. He has also worked extensively in the Northern Territory, where he lived for many years, developing support services for small communities in remote areas of the Tanami Desert, and then later in Alice Springs, coordinating education and training programs for communities throughout Central Australia. David is also a writer and loves the outdoors. When he has a free moment, he is likely to be found on a beach, by a river or on a mountain – anywhere in the beautiful North Coast and Northern Rivers region of NSW. Along with his partner, Meg, David has strong personal experiences with ageing which have shaped his desire to bring new options and opportunities in Home Care for Seniors – based on wellness, individual choice and positive living.
